For a season or two there were small rumbles in the ground, but two weeks ago there was a big shake. The night after a yellow and green pillar of light shot up into the sky from over the mountains to the north. Since then, more undead have appeared in the area. The village of Zerenbor sent request for aid from the local lord Lady Victoria Slihim, but she had ridden out with some Order of Silver and Steel to hunt some extra dangerous undead called a Weeper. So the village is offering up a few meager coins and some supplies they’ve assembled to your oathbound heroes.
Carmen played the Tiny Warrior from the Dark named Mishuko who was not very talkative and had arms marked with both fulfilled and broken oaths.
Syri played Klarina the Bard Chosen by a God, who met a man named Milikin that turned out to bee the god Verr. Now she traveled with Nik Nik the very opinionated raven.
Andrea played Brazia Melislav, the Verani hunter turned cook who learned how to make roasted Zakar. She had served it once to a friend. That would matter later in the game.
Robert played Milikin, the Apprentice Wizard, youngest of seven children. Was he named after the pseudonym for the god Verr? Was he the ancient descendent of Ben-Assar, Necromancer King? Well…who is to say, but he did have the spark of power. Followed by his loyal goat companion Dannia.
Kari played Zodri Spur, the Stoneform Guardian who learned the lesson you have to bury your own heads and traveled to Verrad because his mentor sent him to help people there. This character was from the Curse of Storms adventure but Kari quickly made it work.
Favorite moments
- Milikin spending time with the goats in Zerenbor and finding the goat trails that lead to the hunters cabin. Later when Dannia wanted to eat the woundsbreath flower and was allowed to, but it was trickier when she wanted to eat the nightflower inside the tomb!
- Mishuko separating from the party and climbing through the rubble to find the majordomo, then “repairing” him by pulling a chip of rock out where the memory pins were driven, but accidentally summoning the tomb guardians in the process.
- Klarina, calling upon Vran to bless her air and firing a blacksilver arrow into the head of the tomb guard, breaking the necromantic bonds that held it together.
- Zodri, seeing the tomb guard coming, hiding amongst the stone walls and tackling the guard, enduring a concussion to slow him with rending claws.
- Brazia making roasted Zakar so that neither she nor Milikin were nauseated by the unending drop below.
The final moment that blew me away was Klarina, after learning some of the history of the Empire, crafting a song:
I offer life in exchange for death
And in entirety I steal your breath.
