GM: John LeBoeuf-Little
Players: Andi, Jenn Martin, Jozy Zim, Sean Nittner
System: Scum and Villainy
John teased that he might run Scum and Villainy, and immediately the game was full. We were all jazzed to play spacefaring scoundrels, and I was personally excited to see what was on the other side of the gate!
My notes are extremely scattered so rather than try to present them chronologically, I’m just clumping them the theme.
Places
- Planets all exploded, but the asteroid field still held in gravitational orbit…and some with atmosphere!
- The Well – Devoid of way energy (but I said there was big pulse when the gates opened, so there!)
- Rayon – Dead planet. Mined for rocks and more. We met Hicks there.
- Astari Cloud – Core of an Ur-Ship there. Pirate fleet. Somehow the Maelstrom moved a whole nebula through the gate. Wowsa.
- The Palace. Giant precursor space castle. Google floating castle and you’ll get it. Coursing with way energy. The place we went.
Phenomena
- Hazard-881 – Giant space monster that ate the star drive of the Hegemony battle cruiser.
- Hazard-882 – My little pet datavore if I ever set them loose on an open feed
Peeps
- En-Ka rules of the area, but from afar.
- HN1 – A collective that forms bonds of Human and UR-Bot pairs (technical, collective, curious)
- Legion 51 – Went to conquer everyone but their ship got broke. See Hazard-881 above. Now a floating star base.
- Hicks, mystic good supplier. Gave us the job. Friend of T8. Told us about the blockade.
Our Peeps
- Egg (Andi). Feathered raptor. Rat catcher. Knows stuff. Doesn’t know stuff. Muscle.
- Sing (Zim). Purple raven with many nostrils. Named after their move the Singularity Slingshot. Pilot
- Doc “Zeph”. Neither of these are her real name. Secretly a space princess. Stitch.
- Telly-968. Human UR-Bot collective. Goes by T8 (pronounced Tate). Very serious human. Very chatty ur-bot. Was at the well when the gate opened as saw visions of the others. Grew increasingly “out of sync”. Mystic.
Our Ride
- Firedrake, spraypainted with the name “Stardancer”. Hee hee.
Stuffs
- Data cubes. Hard to access but have precursor memories.
- Time Dagger. The McGuffin. Anything you stab, stops in time. Thankfully Doc knows how to handle artifacts safely!
Adventures
- The palace was protected by an En-Ka blockade which we coasted by with the engines off thanks to Sing’s Singularity Slingshot move!
- Opening the door to the palace required a memory. In this case it was T8 gave up the memory of their vision of Sing doing their first slingshot. Probably should have closed the door after us!
- Big room. Lots of blue cubes. Control panel. No directions. Lights. Beeps, Boops. Egg found panels with ur symbols. Doc examined the plinth and pushed some buttons to make a door open.
- Floors and walls look bronze but made of materials with multiple densities. Doc had to get T8 back in action (losing the memory from the human mind but still having a record in the ur-bot databanks started the “out of sync” clock that eventually filled).
- Warm giant towers of blue cubes, but some of them are black. Something hiding in the shadows above. DATAVORES. Enemies? No…buddies! T8 opened a stream and shared latest media feeds Murderbot style.
- Egg knew buddies would soon want more and turn to baddies. Wanted to smash but T8 protested so they hacked them to go back to their original jobs (working on the palace) but kept one as a buddy inside T8’s storage compartments.
- Sing saw the cubes and yelled “LOOOOOT!” and then started shoving them in a duffle. Cool grappling hook action. Recalls a precursor memory of the Palace being completed everyone feeling triumphant.
- Lots of questions from Egg and Sing about gods. Are these gods? Little gods? Local gods? Gravity well gods? It smells like ancient technoloy.
- Doc enters more ur-symbols on the plinth and another door opens to a room with an incredible gardens (very fancy, jardÃn precioso!). Doc feels a deep lasagna of unhappiness (at not being able to understand all of this) sprinkled with excitement.
- In the center of he garden is a dagger floating in the air. From Egg “please tell me that what we’re leaving with”. From Sing “we’re not leaving without it!”
- Doc approached but then skips through time. T8 accidentally calls Egg and Sing humans and apologizes. We thought Doc moved, but we all lost a few moments of time. Says the ur-bot side of the T8 brain.
- T8 and Doc work together to navigate the garden and eventually get to the dagger. It’s not frozen in the air, it’s frozen in time! Doc studied this though, and she grabs it!
- Leaving the doors open drew attention from the blockade and once we got in the ship they were on us. Egg shot a big as pulse charge at the scouts sending them veering out of the way.
- Sing blasted of and got past the battle cruisers. pew pew pew.
- In the end we weren’t giving this dagger anyone, so we offered up T8’s personal artifact and some data cubes which were “good enough” for Hix. 9 cred, a scary time dagger, and some pissed off En-Ka battlecruisers. Good times!
