Late at night, we gathered round the living room to follow the silhouette queen to her end. Her betrayal was born from her own cruelty. We were the foot washer, the minister, the spy, the jester, the interrogator, the messenger, the body double, and the replacement.
Our love for the queen was a fraught one and when the ambush came, few of us stayed behind to defend her, many of us had become closer to each other than we could ever become to her.
