Bibliomancy (5/23/2026)

GM: Steven Drouin
Players: Meg Zhanson, Demian Vonder Kuhlen, James Koch, Sean Nittner
System: Bibliomancy: Insects in the Page

Libraries across the globe are under attack. Books are disappearing in puffs of purple-green mist. You are a book, violently brought to life, and bound to defend the written word. Learn to draw power from within yourself and unravel the mystery of these coordinated assaults.

This game is both magical and profane. It is played by destroying books (literally) to create magic. Pulling words and shapes from the torn pages to attack other book in defense of something even more precious.

I played the Royal Sovereign, a book based on the History of Great Ships. My companions were Meg, from A Wind in the Door, James from James and the Giant Peach, and Dirk from Treasure Island.

We torn pages from ourselves to cast spells literal and figurative, textual and visual. From all corners of the quadrangle, we summoned wind and waves and filled our sails with stories of old. In the end we bound the father of lies in truth and purged corruption from it’s very source!

As always, thanks for taking a leap and trying something unique. I am so glad you chose that book. When I picked up the book, I knew it was going to be good. I have a friend named Aaron who often will compose art pieces while playing. He made me a beautiful collage while playing Bibliomancy recently. I actually saved the page with your ‘final truth’ and tacked it to the back of a piece. I love when players can do something in game that genuinely creeps me out. Your found quote about ‘square castles’ made my skin crawl in all the right ways.

Yeah, that passage felt pretty magical when I found it. So glad to add to the collage. It was delightful playing with you as always!
