Vrachoi is a miserable cluster of unforgiving rocks. It’s said to be sacred to Ares, an embodiment of his wrath and favor. High cliffs are crowned with brilliant green plants and a single towering oak.
This is the second time heroes have arrived at Vrachoi and been delivered to Elise and Akata as captives. It just kept getting better from there.
Our heroes:
Tychon the Hot Headed, scion of Hermes, who honored Ares. His bald head radiated heat, his stern eyes pierced souls, and his shield was battered from many battles. [Justin]
Monomachus the Loud Roaring, scion on Callieratos of Manitea, who was know for his brawny limbs, lantern jaw, enormous bushy black eyebrow and beard, and his two war sickles [Andrew]
Isidora the Eagle Eyed, scion of Aphrodite who honored Hermes, recognized by her curvy form, sharp eyes, spikey golden hair, golden bow, and her pet eagle Xanthe, who always cried out to announce her entrance [Jozy]
Highlights
Monomachus immediately breaking down in tears when his attempts to rouse the crew failed. He was so lonely on these waters. He missed his home.
When given the decision between besting the Golden Galleon or the Kêtos at sea, Tychon chose to face the island itself and crashed their ship upon it’s rocks, shattering the hull and laying himself and Isidora bare on the rocks for Aketa’s warriors to capture.
So many thrusting thighs.
Isidora convincing Elise and Aketa that they could be the arbiters of a fair agreement, though neither warrior seemed to want the negotiations to end.
Monomachus rubbing oil on other soldiers and they oiled him as well and discussed the predicament the two leaders were in. Elise had captured Aketa’s father King Medon and was holding him captive. But the king himself would never accept any of the ransom terms. He’d rather die than yield.
After the negotiations ended for the day, Tychon saw Aketa challenging her warriors to pankration (a mixture of bare-knuckle boxing and wrestling) in the sand. He entered the challenge and the trashed most of the camp, flying into one another with knees and fists, locks and throws.
Eagle Eyed Isidora spotting Philosta, the high priest of Ares as she snuck into the hostage tent and attempted to slay king Medon. Isidora called on the blessing of Aphordite who made her appear as Aketa, who Philosta loved. The priest told Isidora, glamoured as Aketa, that she was killing her father so she could finally be free of his tyranny, defeat Elise, and claim all of the Sekaran lands.
Monomachus saw the attempted assassination and hurled his spear toward Philosta, but King Medon, believing it was for his daughter stood in the way and it was Monomachus’ blade, rather than Philosta’s that killed him.
A final battle where our heroes realized that Elise and Aketa had been delaying the negotiations because they secretly both desired the other, but their stations would not allow it. Isidora guided them to follow their hearts, and just as it seemed they would reconcile, Ares himself shook the land and sent rocks down from the mountain to crush them all. He demanded battle!
Monomachus and Tychon, who had been eager to test their blades and thrust their thighs against each other, took up battle that became one to rival the gods. Over seven days and seven knights they fought at first with spear and sickle, but soon hurling the boulders Ares sent down at each other, and then when the reached the top of the mountain, finally, Tychon ripped the great oak from its peak and smashed Monomachus into the sea.
As the island crumbled behind them the sailed off on the Golden Galleon (the Kêtos had also been used as a weapon during the great battle) and the two warriors Aketa and Elise agreed to share one ship, one nation, and one bed.
