Adventure Log
At the hospital
EMT night of the crash: Amil Lazarro, has noticed a pattern about the crashes.
Attending doctor: Sherwood
There is a radius of accidents that have happened that are in a circle around the town, always between 9pm-6am, on the roads that pass through the edges of the circle. Tanner’s End is in the center of the circle (not the center of the town).
At the Delanos
8:15pm
- They are packing the car up and arguing. David wants to run, Christina wants to “stick with the plan,” try to cancel the concert, things will blow over.
- Team surveys for longer until risk of being discovered, but come back closer to 9pm.
- Mordecai sees Christina drawing blood from Nika.
- Jessica & Stasia confront David, he yells to Nika to run.
- Christina takes off towards Tanner’s End (Stasia follows), Nika runs to the Sheriff’s house (Mordecai follows). Jessica takes David inside the house.
- The Delanos have a standard scary looking book, written in Cyrillic, old timey tools to draw blood & sterilize tools.
At Tanner’s End
Has a soot circle that acts as an alarm.
Christina is pouring a vial of Niki’s blood in a circle around herself (refilling it); the spell puts people to sleep.
Stasia makes it to the circle before the spell ends. Damages the runes in the chapel that cause lightning damage.
9pm
Jessica and David fall asleep inside. Sheriff opens the door in time for Mordecai and Nika to get inside. Nika doesn’t seem to be affected by the sleep spell. Mordecai can’t fully shake off the spell but stays awake.
Nika tells Mordecai about Madam Koshmar: Ran an orphanage in Russia, fear of children have kept her spirit alive. She draws power from children who fear her, tormented Nika in an orphanage, traveled with her when Nika was adopted. She can be hurt by light, and by harm to Nika.
Madam Koshmar arrives at Tanner’s End, holding the hand of a shade, and a scythe. Stasia and Christina are safe inside the circle.
Koshmar travels to Mordecai & Nika. Mordecai tells Nika to run to the van for a sedative. Mordecai takes damage and is bleeding out overnight.
Morning
Jessica and Stasia find Mordecai; Jessica stabilizes him until the ambulance arrives.
The plan
Barricade the roads, postpone the concert, tell all the townsfolk to stay indoors. Rig up the lights to all turn on with one switch. Hide Nika in the Haven’s safe chamber.
The showdown
Jessica and Stasia are in the middle of the concert field. George and the 1800s girl show up; George gets a face-full of rock salt. Stasia holds the girl’s hand (takes damage) but manages to calm her, and abates some of Nika’s fear. Koshmar shows up!
The lights go on and cause damage to Koshmar…and also Nika, who is peeking out. Jessica runs to Nika and gets her back inside. Koshmar grabs Stasia by the throat, the lights flare and do more damage. Jessica runs back, shoots Koshmar (which alerts the town, causing lots of red tape later). Koshmar crumbles to dust, leaving a scorch mark in the field where grass will never grow.
